Salary Range: $76,000 - $116,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize welding procedures and specifications for various manufacturing processes.
  • Select appropriate welding processes, equipment, and consumables based on material, application, and cost considerations.
  • Oversee the qualification and certification of welding personnel and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot welding-related issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct welding process audits and inspections to maintain quality and consistency.
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure weldability and manufacturability of products.
  • Research and implement new welding technologies and advancements to improve efficiency and quality.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Certified Welding Engineer (CWE) certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in welding process development, troubleshooting, and quality control within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of various welding processes (e.g., SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, SAW, FCAW) and their applications.
  • Proficient in welding metallurgy, distortion control, and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
  • Experience with welding codes and standards (e.g., AWS, ASME, API) and their implementation.

Bonus Qualifications

  • - Experience with advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) methods like phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT) or computed radiography (CR).
  • - Proficiency in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for weld stress and distortion simulation.
  • - Familiarity with robotics and automation in welding processes.
  • - Knowledge of materials science related to exotic alloys or advanced composites.
  • - Certification in project management (e.g., PMP).
