Materials Manager | Hudsonville, MI

Salary Range: $82,000 - $122,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement inventory control strategies to optimize stock levels and minimize carrying costs.
• Oversee the planning, scheduling, and procurement of raw materials and components to meet production demands.
• Manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure on-time delivery of quality materials.
• Lead and mentor the materials team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• Analyze material usage, forecast demand, and collaborate with production and sales to align material availability.
• Optimize warehouse operations, material handling, and logistics to ensure efficient material flow within the facility.
• Implement and maintain robust MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems to ensure accurate material planning.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proven experience in supply chain management, including procurement, inventory control, and logistics within a manufacturing environment.
• Advanced proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) for planning and execution.
• Demonstrated expertise in inventory management techniques such as JIT, Kanban, or lean manufacturing principles.
• Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
• Ability to analyze data, forecast demand, and develop strategic materials plans.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to manage teams and collaborate cross-functionally.

Bonus Qualifications

• Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification
• Experience with advanced planning systems (APS) such as SAP APO, Kinaxis, or Blue Yonder
• Proven experience in international sourcing and logistics, including customs and trade compliance
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or strong project management experience
• Proficiency with data visualization and business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
