Shipping & Receiving Lead | Lansing, MI

Salary Range: $49,000 - $72,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Lansing that are seeking skilled Shipping & Receiving Leads. These organizations are dedicated to maintaining high standards and are looking for professionals who can contribute effectively. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily shipping and receiving operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
• Lead and train a team of shipping and receiving associates, fostering a productive work environment.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct regular cycle counts to ensure data integrity.
• Coordinate with production, quality, and logistics teams to optimize material flow and resolve discrepancies.
• Operate and maintain material handling equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks.
• Implement and enforce safety protocols and company policies within the shipping and receiving department.
• Prepare and process shipping documentation, including bills of lading and customs forms.

Recommended Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in shipping/receiving, with 2+ years in a lead or supervisory role.
• Proven ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment, with valid certification.
• Strong knowledge of inventory management systems and best practices (e.g., FIFO, LIFO).
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders.
• Experience with common shipping software and carrier portals (e.g., UPS WorldShip, FedEx Ship Manager).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and motivate team members.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with ERP systems beyond basic data entry (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) for inventory management and order fulfillment.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or demonstrated experience applying Lean principles to improve warehouse efficiency.
• Forklift trainer certification or experience training and certifying team members on material handling equipment.
• Proficiency in using barcode scanning technology and warehouse management system (WMS) software for inventory accuracy.
