Payroll Specialist | Montague, MI

Salary Range: $48,000 - $75,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Montague that are seeking skilled Payroll Specialists. These organizations are dedicated to maintaining high standards and are looking for professionals who can contribute effectively. Key Responsibilities

• Process weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees.
• Ensure accurate calculation of wages, overtime, and deductions.
• Administer and reconcile employee benefits deductions.
• Prepare and submit federal and state tax filings.
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay and deductions.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll laws and regulations.
• Assist with year-end payroll activities and W-2 distribution.

Recommended Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience processing multi-state payroll for 500+ employees, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Workday, UKG) and timekeeping systems.
• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements specific to manufacturing.
• Experience with general ledger reconciliation and journal entries related to payroll.
• Ability to interpret and apply collective bargaining agreements or union contracts to payroll processing.
