Salary Range: $79,000 - $119,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize laser welding processes for new and existing products.
• Design and implement laser weld fixtures and tooling.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for weld defects.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure weldability and manufacturability.
• Conduct material characterization and mechanical testing of laser welded joints.
• Generate and maintain detailed process documentation, including work instructions and specifications.
• Provide technical support and training to production personnel.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years experience with laser welding processes and equipment in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated expertise in laser process development, optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Strong understanding of metallurgical principles and their application to welding dissimilar materials.
• Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, and weld symbols.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with fiber laser systems and their integration into manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in using SolidWorks or other CAD software for fixture design and part analysis.
• Familiarity with various material science concepts, including metallurgy and heat treatment effects on weld quality.
• Knowledge of industrial automation and robotics, specifically as applied to laser welding cells.
