Salary Range: $77,000 - $117,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize laser welding processes for new and existing products.
• Design and implement laser welding fixtures and tooling.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for welding defects.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure weldability and manufacturability.
• Conduct material characterization and mechanical testing of laser welded joints.
• Establish and maintain process documentation, including work instructions and control plans.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Materials Science, Mechanical, Welding) or related field.
• 3+ years experience in laser welding processes and equipment in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated expertise in weld joint design, metallurgy, and material science for various alloys.
• Proficiency in using and interpreting data from laser welding process monitoring systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills for optimizing weld parameters and troubleshooting defects.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with advanced laser technologies (e.g., ultrafast lasers, fiber lasers beyond standard CW).
• Proficiency in optical design software (e.g., Zemax, FRED) for laser beam delivery systems.
• Demonstrated ability to implement automation and robotics in laser welding processes.
• Familiarity with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods specific to weld quality (e.g., X-ray, CT scanning, ultrasonic testing).
• Patent holder or significant contributor to published research in laser materials processing.
