HR Generalist | Plainwell, MI

Salary Range: $61,000 - $88,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer employee benefits programs and act as a liaison with providers.
  • Manage full cycle recruitment for production and administrative roles, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding.
  • Oversee employee relations, conduct investigations, and provide guidance on company policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Process payroll and maintain accurate HR records and HRIS data.
  • Develop and deliver HR-related training sessions for employees and management.
  • Support performance management processes, including reviews and goal setting.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations (e.g., FMLA, ADA, OSHA).
  • Experience with HRIS systems and payroll processing.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with employees at all levels.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with HRIS implementation or optimization.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification.
  • Proficiency in a second language (e.g., Spanish, Mandarin).
  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt or Green Belt certification.
  • Demonstrated experience in a unionized manufacturing environment.
