EHS Manager | Newaygo, MI

Salary Range: $84,000 - $129,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct regular EHS audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and develop preventative measures to minimize recurrence.
  • Provide EHS training and awareness programs for all employees, including new hires and contractors.
  • Manage hazardous waste programs, chemical inventories, and ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS considerations into all aspects of manufacturing operations.
  • Maintain accurate EHS records, prepare reports, and submit necessary documentation to regulatory agencies.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
  • Proven ability to develop, implement, and manage EHS programs and management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Professional EHS certification (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM) is highly desirable.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and their application to EHS.
  • Proficiency in EHS management software platforms (e.g., Intelex, Cority, Sphera).
  • Multilingual abilities, particularly in languages common within the local workforce.
  • Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment.
