Incoming Inspection Technician | Hudsonville, MI

Salary Range: $47,000 - $70,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Perform visual and dimensional inspections of incoming materials, components, and sub-assemblies against engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
• Document inspection results accurately in the Quality Management System (QMS), including acceptance, rejection, and non-conformance details.
• Initiate and track Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for rejected materials, collaborating with suppliers and internal teams for resolution.
• Utilize precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and optical comparators.
• Verify material certifications and accompanying documentation for compliance with purchase order requirements.
• Maintain and calibrate inspection equipment according to established schedules and procedures.
• Assist in root cause analysis for recurring material quality issues.

Recommended Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• 1-2 years experience in a manufacturing quality control or inspection role
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications (GD&T preferred)
• Proficient in using various measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.)
• Basic computer skills for data entry and record keeping
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with optical comparators or CMMs
• IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001 certification
• Familiarity with a variety of material types (metals, plastics, composites)
• Basic understanding of GD&T principles
• Experience with an ERP system for inventory management
