Salary Range: $83,000 - $123,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize laser welding processes for new and existing products.
  • Design and implement laser welding fixtures and tooling.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for welding defects.
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure weldability of components.
  • Qualify and validate laser welding equipment and processes.
  • Provide technical support and training to production personnel.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Materials Science, Mechanical, Electrical, Welding) or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in laser welding processes and equipment within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of metallurgy, material science, and weldability of various alloys (e.g., stainless steel, aluminum, titanium).
  • Proficiency in programming and operating laser welding systems, including fiber lasers and Nd:YAG lasers.
  • Experience with weld quality inspection techniques (e.g., visual, destructive, non-destructive testing) and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to design and optimize welding fixtures and tooling for production.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced laser technologies (e.g., ultrafast lasers, fiber lasers beyond standard CW).
  • Proficiency in optical design software (e.g., Zemax, FRED) for laser beam delivery systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and optimize vision systems for weld quality inspection and feedback control.
  • Background in materials science with a focus on metallurgy and its relation to laser-material interaction.
  • Project management experience, particularly in leading cross-functional teams for process development and equipment integration.
