Salary Range: $84,000 - $124,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize laser welding processes for new and existing products.
  • Design and implement laser welding fixtures and tooling.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for welding defects.
  • Collaborate with design and production teams to ensure manufacturability and quality.
  • Perform process capability studies and statistical process control.
  • Evaluate and recommend new laser welding technologies and equipment.
  • Provide technical training and support to manufacturing personnel.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Materials Science, Mechanical, Welding) or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience with industrial laser welding processes, equipment, and materials.
  • Proven ability to develop, optimize, and troubleshoot laser welding parameters and processes for manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of metallurgical principles, weldability of various alloys, and weld defect analysis.
  • Experience with CAD software and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of laser safety standards and best practices.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced laser technologies (e.g., ultrafast lasers, fiber lasers beyond standard CW/pulsed).
  • Proficiency in optical design software (e.g., Zemax, FRED) for beam delivery optimization.
  • Background in materials science, specifically metallurgy or advanced ceramics, related to weldability.
  • Experience with automated inspection systems (e.g., machine vision, CT scanning) for weld quality.
  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies.
