CNC Machinist | Wayland, MI

Salary Range: $44,000 - $75,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Wayland seeking CNC Machinists who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machinery, including lathes, mills, and grinders.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and G-code.
• Inspect finished products for quality and adherence to specifications using precision measuring tools.
• Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to machine operation, tooling, and programming.
• Select and load appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and materials for each job.
• Monitor machine operations and adjust as needed to maintain part quality and production efficiency.

Recommended Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• 2+ years of experience operating CNC machines (mills, lathes)
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings
• Strong understanding of G-code and M-code programming
• Ability to perform quality checks using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
• Experience with various materials (e.g., steel, aluminum, plastics)

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks)
• Ability to perform minor machine maintenance and troubleshooting
• Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
• Experience operating and programming multi-axis CNC machines
• Forklift certification or experience
