Salary Range: $53,000 - $87,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Lansing seeking CNC Lathe Programmers who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize CNC programs for Lathe machines using CAD/CAM software.
  • Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to determine optimal machining processes and tooling.
  • Create and maintain detailed setup sheets, tool lists, and other manufacturing documentation.
  • Perform test runs and make adjustments to programs to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and quality.
  • Collaborate with machinists and engineers to troubleshoot issues and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, holders, and workholding devices for specific operations.
  • Estimate machining times and material requirements for production planning.
  • Implement and adhere to safety protocols and quality control standards.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proficiency in CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Esprit, GibbsCAM) for generating G-code.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and its application in CNC programming.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints, schematics, and M&T charts.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of various tooling, inserts, and their optimal use for different materials.
  • Experience with machine setup, offsets, and first-piece inspection for CNC lathes.
  • Familiarity with Fanuc or similar controls for program editing and troubleshooting.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with CAD/CAM software beyond basic part modeling (e.g., SolidWorks CAM, Mastercam).
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and optimize existing CNC programs for efficiency and quality.
  • Familiarity with various tooling systems and cutting tool materials, and their application in different materials.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and its practical application in manufacturing.
  • Experience with post-processor development or modification for specific machine tools.
