Environmental Health & Safety Specialist | Grand Rapids, MI

Salary Range: $58,000 - $90,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Grand Rapids seeking Environmental Health & Safety Specialists who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement EHS policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Deliver EHS training programs to employees on topics such as hazard communication, lockout/tagout, and emergency preparedness.
  • Manage hazardous waste disposal and ensure proper record-keeping.
  • Maintain and update safety data sheets (SDS) and other EHS documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS considerations into manufacturing processes.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related scientific field.
  • 3+ years of EHS experience within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
  • Proven ability to conduct EHS training, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
  • Experience with EHS management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 certification processes
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver EHS training programs
  • Proficiency in EHS management software (e.g., Intelex, Cority, Sphera)
  • Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification
