CNC Machinist | East Lansing, MI

Salary Range: $48,000 - $80,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machines (mills, lathes, routers) according to job specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and G-code programs.
• Monitor machine operations and make necessary adjustments to ensure part quality and efficiency.
• Perform in-process and final quality inspections using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
• Troubleshoot and resolve basic machine alarms, tool wear, or production issues.
• Load and unload materials and finished parts accurately and safely.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and perform routine machine maintenance.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficiency in G-code and M-code programming for CNC mills and/or lathes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints, schematics, and GD&T.
• Skilled in using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, depth gauges).
• Experience with machine setup, tool changes, and offsets.
• Strong understanding of various machining materials and their properties.

Bonus Qualifications

• Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360).
• Experience performing minor machine maintenance or troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with advanced metrology tools (e.g., CMM, optical comparator).
• Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
