Salary Range: $78,000 - $118,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement welding procedures (WPS) and qualification records (PQR) to ensure consistent and high-quality welds.
  • Oversee and troubleshoot welding processes, identifying root causes of defects and implementing corrective actions.
  • Select appropriate welding consumables, equipment, and techniques based on material properties and application requirements.
  • Conduct welding training and certification for welding personnel to maintain skill levels and compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry codes, standards, and safety regulations (e.g., AWS, ASME, OSHA).
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing engineers to optimize weld joint designs for manufacturability and performance.
  • Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) oversight and interpretation of results for weld integrity verification.
  • Manage and maintain welding equipment, ensuring calibration and proper functioning.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Certified Welding Engineer (CWE) certification.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing welding procedures (WPS) and qualifications (PQR).
  • Strong understanding of various welding processes (e.g., GTAW, GMAW, SMAW, SAW) and their applications in manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with welding metallurgy, codes (e.g., AWS, ASME, API), and standards.
  • Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and weld quality control.

Bonus Qualifications

  • - Experience with robotic welding systems and programming
  • - Proficiency in non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and interpretation
  • - Knowledge of advanced manufacturing techniques such as additive manufacturing (3D printing) for metals
  • - Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
