Salary Range: $61,000 - $96,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop CNC programs for 3-axis to 5-axis milling machines.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and machine parameters.
  • Optimize programs for efficiency, cycle time, and tool life.
  • Perform simulations and verify tool paths to prevent collisions.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers and machinists on program implementation.
  • Troubleshoot and modify existing programs to improve part quality and process reliability.
  • Document programming processes, setup sheets, and tooling requirements.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proficiency in CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, GibbsCAM) for generating G-code.
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining principles, including tooling, fixturing, and material properties.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and CAD models to develop machining strategies.
  • Experience with multi-axis milling (3, 4, or 5-axis) and complex part geometries.
  • Knowledge of machine shop safety protocols and best practices.
  • Troubleshooting skills for optimizing programs and resolving machining issues.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with 5-axis programming.
  • Proficiency in CAM software beyond basic G-code generation (e.g., advanced toolpath optimization, simulation).
  • Familiarity with various control systems (e.g., Fanuc, Haas, Siemens) and their specific nuances.
  • Ability to design and create custom fixturing for complex parts.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and its application in manufacturing processes.
