Environmental Health & Safety Specialist | DeWitt, MI
Salary Range: $61,000 - $93,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity
We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in DeWitt that are seeking skilled Environmental Health & Safety Specialists. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement EHS policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Deliver EHS training programs to employees on topics such as lockout/tagout, confined spaces, and hazard communication.
- Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Manage hazardous waste disposal programs and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Maintain accurate EHS records and documentation, including permits, training records, and incident reports.
Recommended Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related science/engineering field.
- 3-5 years of EHS experience within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
- Proven ability to develop, implement, and manage EHS programs (e.g., LOTO, confined space, hazard communication, waste management).
- Experience with EHS management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with ISO 14001 or ISO 45001 implementation
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) in progress
- Proficiency in a second language, particularly Spanish
- Experience with ergonomics assessments and improvements
- Familiarity with Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing principles
