Staff Accountant | Portage, MI

Salary Range: $54,000 - $84,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Portage that are seeking skilled Staff Accountants. These organizations are dedicated to maintaining high standards and are looking for professionals who can contribute effectively. Key Responsibilities

• Reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank statements and various balance sheet accounts.
• Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close procedures, including accruals and reconciliations.
• Support the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, as needed.
• Analyze manufacturing costs and variances, providing insights to management.
• Prepare various financial reports and schedules for internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain fixed asset records and calculate depreciation.
• Participate in inventory counts and reconcile inventory balances.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 2+ years of experience in a Staff Accountant role, preferably within manufacturing
• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP systems
• Experience with inventory accounting and cost accounting principles

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with an ERP system like SAP or Oracle
• Familiarity with Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing principles
• CMA or CPA certification in progress
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs
