Supplier Quality Engineer | Wayland, MI

Salary Range: $82,000 - $116,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement supplier quality management strategies and processes.
  • Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for supplier-related quality issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define supplier quality requirements and specifications.
  • Monitor and report on key supplier quality performance metrics and trends.
  • Manage supplier non-conformances and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in new product development to ensure supplier readiness and capability.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in quality engineering, supplier quality, or a related role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100) and tools (e.g., SPC, FMEA, 8D).
  • Proven ability to conduct supplier audits, evaluate supplier performance, and drive corrective actions.
  • Experience with various manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, casting, injection molding, electronics assembly).

Bonus Qualifications

  • ASQ certifications (e.g., CSQE, CQE, CQA)
  • Experience with advanced quality planning (e.g., APQP, PPAP)
  • Proficiency in a programming language for data analysis (e.g., Python, R)
  • Familiarity with specific manufacturing processes relevant to the company (e.g., injection molding, machining, electronics assembly)
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies and tools
