Salary Range: $78,000 - $118,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize laser welding processes for new and existing products.
• Design and implement laser weld fixtures and tooling.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for weld defects.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure weldability and manufacturability.
• Conduct material characterization and weldability studies for various alloys.
• Establish and maintain process documentation, including work instructions and control plans.
• Provide technical support and training to production personnel on laser welding equipment and processes.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in laser welding processes within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven expertise in laser weld parameter development, optimization, and process control.
• Strong understanding of material science, metallurgy, and weldability of various alloys.
• Experience with root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions for weld defects.
• Proficiency in using metrology tools and interpreting weld inspection results (e.g., CT scan, metallography).

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with vision systems for weld inspection and guidance.
• Familiarity with robotic programming and automation for laser welding applications.
• Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis on weld defects and implement corrective actions.
• Knowledge of different material interactions during laser welding (e.g., dissimilar metals, exotic alloys).
