Salary Range: $84,000 - $124,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are partnering with organizations in Norton Shores that are seeking Laser Weld Engineers. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize, and document laser welding processes for new and existing products.
  • Design and procure laser welding fixtures and tooling.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for laser weld defects.
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure weldability and manufacturability.
  • Conduct material characterization and weld joint analysis to determine optimal parameters.
  • Provide technical support and training to production personnel on laser welding equipment and processes.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in laser welding processes within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven expertise in laser weld parameter development, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of metallurgy, material science, and their impact on weld quality.
  • Experience with various laser types (fiber, YAG, CO2) and their applications.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and weld specifications.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with fiber laser welding systems.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Ability to perform basic metallurgical analysis (e.g., cross-sectioning, micro-hardness testing).
  • Knowledge of fixture design for laser welding applications.
