Payroll Specialist | Grand Haven, MI

Salary Range: $48,000 - $75,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are partnering with organizations in Grand Haven that are seeking Payroll Specialists. Key Responsibilities

• Process multi-state payroll for a large employee base, including hourly and salaried staff.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and internal policies.
• Reconcile payroll data and general ledger accounts, resolving discrepancies promptly.
• Administer timekeeping systems and ensure accurate recording of employee work hours.
• Calculate and process payroll deductions, including benefits, garnishments, and 401k contributions.
• Generate payroll reports for management, finance, and other departments.
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and payroll-related matters.

Recommended Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience processing multi-state payroll for a manufacturing company with 500+ employees.
• Proven experience with payroll tax regulations, including federal, state, and local tax filings for manufacturing.
• Demonstrated proficiency in a major HRIS/payroll system (e.g., ADP Workforce Now, UKG Pro, Workday) with timekeeping integration.
• Strong understanding of wage and hour laws specific to a manufacturing environment (e.g., shift differentials, overtime calculations for production workers).
• Experience with payroll reconciliation, general ledger integration, and month-end close processes in a manufacturing context.
