Job Overview
As a PolyWorks Metrologist, you will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting 3D scan data, conducting dimensional inspections, and ensuring precision in measurement processes. This role provides a unique opportunity to pivot into industrial NDT and X-ray CT scanning, allowing you to develop radiographic inspection skills while continuing to excel in metrology and quality assurance. Youll collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize scanning techniques, validate measurement results, and support process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize PolyWorks software to analyze 3D scan data, perform dimensional inspections, and generate reports.
- Work with industrial CT scanning and digital radiography to enhance inspection accuracy.
- Support reverse engineering, defect analysis, and metrology-based quality control.
- Collaborate with NDT professionals to integrate metrology with X-ray CT inspection processes.
- Develop and refine measurement methodologies to ensure accuracy and repeatability.
- Assist in the calibration and maintenance of metrology and scanning equipment.
- Stay updated on emerging NDT techniques and participate in training opportunities to expand your expertise.
- Work closely with engineering and quality teams to drive improvements in inspection and validation processes.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience using PolyWorks software for 3D metrology, point cloud analysis, and dimensional inspections.
- Strong knowledge of metrology principles, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and precision measurement techniques.
- Hands-on experience with 3D scanning technologies (e.g., laser scanners, structured light, CMMs, or optical measurement systems).
- Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to interpret complex scan data and measurement results.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a commitment to quality and process improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to X-ray CT scanning, digital radiography, or other Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods.
- Experience in aerospace, medical devices, automotive, or advanced manufacturing industries.
- Understanding of ISO, ASME, or ASTM standards for metrology and NDT.
- Interest in developing NDT certifications (ASNT, NAS410, or equivalent).
- Strong communication skills for technical documentation, reporting, and collaboration with engineers and inspectors.
