Weld Technician | Allendale, MI

Salary Range: $48,000 - $74,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform welding operations according to blueprints, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Inspect welds for defects and ensure compliance with industry codes and regulations.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment, including arc welding, MIG, TIG, and spot welding machines.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot welding equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Prepare materials for welding, including cutting, grinding, and fitting components.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures in the workshop environment.
  • Collaborate with engineers and supervisors to resolve technical welding issues.
  • Document welding processes, materials used, and inspection results.

Recommended Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Certification from an accredited welding program or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience with various welding processes (e.g., GMAW, GTAW, SMAW).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with welding safety procedures and regulations.
  • Experience with quality control and inspection techniques for welds.

Bonus Qualifications

  • - Experience with automated welding processes (e.g., robotic welding, SAW)
  • - Certified welding inspector (CWI) or similar certification
  • - Familiarity with various NDT methods (e.g., UT, MT, PT)
  • - Proficiency in welding procedure specification (WPS) development and review
  • - Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives
