Salary Range: $60,000 - $95,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop CNC programs for lathe operations using CAM software and G-code.
  • Optimize machining parameters, tool paths, and cutting conditions to improve efficiency and part quality.
  • Create and maintain detailed setup sheets, tooling lists, and work instructions for machine operators.
  • Perform program dry runs, first article inspections, and troubleshoot issues to ensure accuracy and functionality.
  • Collaborate with design engineers and machinists to refine part designs for manufacturability and resolve production challenges.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, inserts, and workholding devices based on material, part geometry, and machine capabilities.
  • Ensure all programming adheres to engineering drawings, quality standards, safety regulations, and production schedules.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proficiency in G-code and M-code programming for CNC lathes.
  • Demonstrated experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360) for generating toolpaths.
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering blueprints, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Thorough understanding of tooling selection, cutting parameters, and various material properties.
  • Practical experience in setting up and operating CNC lathes for program testing and optimization.
  • Ability to troubleshoot machining processes and optimize programs for efficiency and quality.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with multi-axis CNC mill-turn programming.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM post-processor development or editing.
  • Demonstrated ability in designing custom workholding and fixtures.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
