Environmental Health & Safety Specialist | Walker, MI
Salary Range: $58,000 - $90,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular EHS inspections and audits to identify hazards and assess risks, recommending corrective actions.
- Investigate all EHS incidents, including near misses, injuries, and spills, determining root causes and implementing preventative measures.
- Deliver EHS training programs to employees on topics such as hazard communication, lockout/tagout, and emergency response.
- Manage hazardous waste programs, ensuring proper storage, labeling, and disposal in accordance with regulations.
- Maintain and update EHS records, permits, and documentation, preparing reports for management and regulatory agencies.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to integrate EHS considerations into production processes and new equipment installations.
Recommended Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or a related scientific field.
- 3-5 years of EHS experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
- Proven ability to conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, and implement corrective actions.
- Strong communication and training skills to effectively engage with all levels of the organization.
- Experience with EHS management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 implementation and auditing.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and their application to EHS.
- Proficiency in EHS software platforms (e.g., Intelex, Cority, Sphera).
- Ability to conduct engaging EHS training sessions for diverse audiences.
