Salary Range: $46,000 - $69,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Portage that are seeking skilled Incoming Inspection Technicians. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of incoming materials, components, and sub-assemblies against engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Utilize various inspection tools and equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, optical comparators, and CMMs, to verify conformance.
  • Document inspection results accurately and thoroughly in the designated quality management system or logbooks.
  • Identify and tag non-conforming materials, initiating the non-conformance report (NCR) process and quarantining defective parts.
  • Collaborate with engineering, purchasing, and quality teams to resolve discrepancies and implement corrective actions for supplier quality issues.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe inspection area, ensuring proper calibration and maintenance of inspection equipment.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of inspection procedures and work instructions.

Recommended Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years experience in a manufacturing quality control or inspection role
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Experience with various inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges)
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and record-keeping
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with CMM operation and/or programming.
  • Familiarity with SPC charting and analysis.
  • IPC-A-610 certification.
  • Experience with various hand tools for measurement (e.g., calipers, micrometers, thread gauges).
  • Basic understanding of GD&T principles.
