EHS Manager | Grand Rapids, MI

Salary Range: $85,000 - $130,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Grand Rapids seeking EHS Managers who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Conduct regular EHS inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
  • Lead incident investigations, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Provide EHS training to employees at all levels, including new hires and ongoing refreshers, on topics such as lockout/tagout, confined space, and hazard communication.
  • Manage hazardous waste disposal programs in accordance with EPA regulations and company policies.
  • Oversee the industrial hygiene program, including air monitoring, noise surveys, and ergonomic assessments.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams on new equipment installations and process changes to integrate EHS considerations from the design phase.
  • Maintain accurate EHS records and prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or a related scientific field.
  • 7+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a management role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in OSHA, EPA, and other relevant federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
  • Proven ability to develop, implement, and manage EHS programs and management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills to effectively train employees and influence a strong safety culture.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) designation.
  • Experience with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and manage sustainability initiatives.
  • Proficiency in EHS management software (e.g., Intelex, Cority, Sphera).
