Cost Accountant | Allegan, MI

Salary Range: $65,000 - $98,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Allegan that are seeking skilled Cost Accountants. Key Responsibilities

• Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare reports comparing standard to actual costs.
• Develop and maintain cost accounting systems and procedures.
• Conduct inventory valuations and reconcile physical counts to system records.
• Participate in the annual budgeting and forecasting processes, focusing on cost of goods sold.
• Identify and analyze cost variances, providing insights and recommendations for cost reduction.
• Support product pricing decisions by providing accurate cost data and analysis.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to optimize manufacturing processes for cost efficiency.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation methods.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
• CPA or CMA certification is a plus.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with ERP system implementation or optimization
• Advanced proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
• Familiarity with Activity-Based Costing (ABC) principles
