Salary Range: $70,000 - $109,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are partnering with organizations in Muskegon that are seeking Packaging Engineers. Key Responsibilities

  • Designs and optimizes packaging solutions for new and existing products.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure packaging meets quality, cost, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conducts testing and analysis of packaging materials and designs to ensure performance and durability.
  • Develops and maintains packaging specifications, bills of materials, and other technical documentation.
  • Identifies and implements cost reduction and continuous improvement opportunities in packaging.
  • Troubleshoots packaging issues and implements corrective actions on the manufacturing line.
  • Stays current with industry trends and advancements in packaging materials and technologies.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in packaging development or engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for package design and analysis.
  • Demonstrated understanding of various packaging materials (plastics, paperboard, glass, metal) and their properties.
  • Experience with packaging machinery and automation, including line integration and optimization.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., ISTA, FDA, GMP).

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with CAD software for packaging design (e.g., ArtiosCAD, SolidWorks).
  • Knowledge of sustainable packaging materials and practices.
  • Certification in packaging (e.g., IoPP Certified Packaging Professional).
  • Familiarity with automation and robotics in packaging processes.
  • Project management experience in a manufacturing environment.
