Salary Range: $86,000 - $126,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize laser welding processes for various manufacturing applications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve laser weld defects, including porosity, cracking, and distortion.
• Implement process controls and statistical process control (SPC) for laser welding operations.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure weldability and manufacturability of products.
• Develop and execute weld schedules, parameters, and tooling for new product introductions.
• Conduct material characterization and metallurgical analysis of laser welded joints.
• Train and mentor production personnel on laser welding techniques and best practices.
• Stay current with advancements in laser technology and welding processes.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Materials Science, Mechanical, Welding).
• 3+ years of experience in laser welding processes and equipment.
• Proven ability to develop and optimize laser weld parameters for various materials.
• Strong understanding of metallurgical principles and weld defect analysis.
• Experience with CAD software and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Familiarity with quality control standards and manufacturing processes.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with advanced laser technologies (e.g., fiber, picosecond, femtosecond lasers).
• Familiarity with robotic automation and vision systems for laser welding.
• Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for weld defects.
• Knowledge of material science, metallurgy, and their impact on laser weldability.
• Proficiency in CAD software for fixture design and weld path programming.
