Salary Range: $55,000 - $85,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Mason seeking Lead Machinists who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the machine shop, ensuring production targets are met.
• Mentor and train junior machinists, fostering skill development and adherence to best practices.
• Program and operate advanced CNC machinery, optimizing processes for efficiency and accuracy.
• Perform complex setups and tooling adjustments, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
• Conduct quality control inspections, verifying machined parts meet precise specifications.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve designs and manufacturing processes.
• Maintain equipment and machinery, scheduling preventative maintenance and repairs.

Recommended Qualifications

• 5-7 years experience as a Machinist, with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
• Proficiency in setting up and operating a variety of manual and CNC machining equipment (lathes, mills, grinders).
• Strong understanding of G-code programming and ability to perform basic program edits.
• Expert-level blueprint reading and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) interpretation.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor junior machinists and lead a small team effectively.
• Experience with quality inspection tools and techniques (micrometers, calipers, CMM).

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with CAD/CAM software for programming and simulation
• Certification in a specialized machining technique (e.g., EDM, laser machining)
• Proven ability to mentor junior machinists or apprentices
• Familiarity with Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing principles
