Salary Range: $81,000 - $121,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize laser welding processes for new and existing products.
• Design and implement laser welding tooling and fixtures.
• Troubleshoot laser welding equipment and process issues on the production floor.
• Conduct root cause analysis of weld defects and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure weldability of components.
• Specify and procure new laser welding equipment and related peripherals.
• Train production personnel on laser welding techniques and safety protocols.
• Maintain detailed documentation of welding parameters, procedures, and results.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Materials, Welding, or related field)
• 3+ years of experience in laser welding processes and equipment
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for fixture design and analysis
• Strong understanding of material science, metallurgy, and weldability of various alloys
• Experience with process optimization, root cause analysis, and statistical process control (SPC)
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) for thermal and mechanical stress.
• Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE).
• Familiarity with robotic programming and automation systems for laser welding.
• Knowledge of material science and metallurgy, specifically for various alloys and their weldability.
