Salary Range: $56,000 - $90,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and optimize CNC programs for multi-axis milling machines using CAM software.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and machining parameters based on part specifications and material.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and 3D models to determine machining processes and requirements.
  • Simulate machining operations to detect potential collisions, verify tool paths, and optimize cycle times.
  • Collaborate with machinists and manufacturing engineers to troubleshoot programs and improve part quality and production efficiency.
  • Create and maintain accurate tooling lists, setup sheets, and work instructions for CNC machine operators.
  • Perform post-processing to generate machine-specific G-code from CAM software.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proficiency in CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, SolidCAM) for 3-axis and multi-axis milling.
  • Strong understanding and ability to write/edit G-code and M-code for CNC milling machines.
  • Expertise in interpreting engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of tooling, fixturing, material properties, and machining processes (feeds/speeds).
  • Proven experience in setting up and operating CNC milling machines, including tool offsets and machine calibration.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with 5-axis programming and advanced machining strategies.
  • Proficiency in post-processor customization or development.
  • Experience with CMM programming or advanced metrology techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience in fixture design and fabrication.
  • Familiarity with machining simulation software (e.g., Vericut, NCSIMUL).
