Salary Range: $53,000 - $80,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform calibration and preventative maintenance on precision measuring equipment and gauges.
  • Conduct dimensional inspections of manufactured parts using CMMs, optical comparators, and various hand tools.
  • Interpret engineering blueprints, GD&T specifications, and technical drawings to determine inspection criteria.
  • Document inspection results, maintain calibration records, and generate detailed measurement reports.
  • Troubleshoot measurement issues, identify non-conformances, and assist in root cause analysis.
  • Support the development and validation of new measurement methods and inspection processes.
  • Ensure all metrology activities comply with internal quality standards and external regulations.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Ability to operate and calibrate precision measurement equipment (e.g., CMM, calipers, micrometers, gauges).
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and specifications, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with metrology software and data analysis tools.
  • Strong understanding of measurement uncertainty, calibration principles, and quality standards (e.g., ISO 17025).
  • AAS degree in Metrology, Quality Assurance, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Proficiency in CMM programming languages (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso, MCOSMOS)
  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and quality improvement methodologies
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD software for model-based inspection
  • Knowledge of advanced metrology techniques (e.g., laser scanning, structured light systems)
