Staff Accountant | East Lansing, MI

Salary Range: $61,000 - $91,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are partnering with organizations in East Lansing that are seeking Staff Accountants. These companies are committed to building strong teams and are looking for professionals who can lead initiatives effectively. Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank statements and intercompany transactions.
• Process accounts payable invoices and prepare vendor payments.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entry preparation.
• Analyze manufacturing costs and assist in variance explanations.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and participate in physical counts.
• Assist with internal and external audit requests.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 2+ years of experience in accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment
• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel
• Experience with inventory costing and fixed asset management

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with an ERP system like SAP or Oracle
• Familiarity with Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing principles
• CPA or CMA certification
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and macros
