Environmental Health & Safety Specialist | East Lansing, MI
Salary Range: $66,000 - $99,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity
We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in East Lansing that are seeking skilled Environmental Health & Safety Specialists. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement preventative measures.
- Deliver EHS training programs to employees on topics such as hazard communication, lockout/tagout, and emergency response.
- Manage hazardous waste disposal and ensure proper record-keeping in accordance with environmental regulations.
- Maintain EHS documentation, including permits, licenses, and safety data sheets (SDS).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS considerations into manufacturing processes and new projects.
Recommended Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related science/engineering field.
- 3-5 years of EHS experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and manage EHS programs and training.
- Experience with hazard identification, risk assessment, and incident investigation.
- Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM are a plus.
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 management systems
- Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau) for EHS metrics
- Professional certification such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist)
- Experience with process safety management (PSM) regulations and programs
