Salary Range: $58,000 - $92,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are partnering with organizations in Grand Rapids that are seeking CNC Mill Programmers. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and write CNC programs for 3, 4, and 5-axis milling machines.
• Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and workholding methods.
• Perform prove-outs of new programs, making adjustments as necessary to optimize performance.
• Collaborate with engineers and machinists to troubleshoot and improve manufacturing processes.
• Create and maintain detailed setup sheets and tooling lists.
• Utilize CAD/CAM software to design and simulate machining operations.
• Optimize existing CNC programs for efficiency, cycle time, and tool life.
• Adhere to safety protocols and quality standards throughout the programming process.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficiency in CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360) for generating toolpaths and G-code.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T.
• Strong understanding of CNC machining principles, tooling, and workholding.
• Experience with machine setup, operation, and troubleshooting on 3-axis and multi-axis CNC mills.
• Ability to perform in-process inspection and utilize metrology tools to ensure part quality.

Bonus Qualifications

• Proficiency with a second CAM software package (e.g., Mastercam, GibbsCAM).
• Experience with 5-axis programming and advanced machining techniques.
• Familiarity with robotics or automation integration in manufacturing.
• Ability to perform basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Strong understanding of GD&T principles and their application in inspection.
