Incoming Inspection Technician | Byron Center, MI

Salary Range: $48,000 - $71,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are partnering with organizations in Byron Center that are seeking Incoming Inspection Technicians. Key Responsibilities

• Perform visual and dimensional inspections of incoming materials, components, and sub-assemblies against engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
• Document inspection results accurately in the quality management system, including non-conformances and corrective actions.
• Utilize various precision measuring tools and equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical comparators, and CMMs.
• Initiate and process Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for rejected materials, collaborating with suppliers and internal teams for resolution.
• Maintain and calibrate inspection equipment according to established schedules and procedures.
• Assist in the development and improvement of inspection procedures and work instructions.
• Ensure proper handling, identification, and segregation of accepted, rejected, and quarantined materials.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues and improve incoming material quality.

Recommended Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• 1-3 years experience in quality control or manufacturing inspection
• Proficiency with various measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• Basic computer skills for data entry and record keeping

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs)
• IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001 certification
• Ability to read and interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for quality data entry
• Basic understanding of statistical process control (SPC)
