Salary Range: $45,000 - $68,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of incoming materials, components, and sub-assemblies against engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Document inspection results accurately in the designated quality management system or logbooks, including non-conformances and discrepancies.
  • Initiate and process Non-Conforming Material Reports (NCMRs) for rejected materials, ensuring proper segregation and identification.
  • Utilize various precision measuring instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and optical comparators.
  • Collaborate with purchasing, engineering, and production departments to resolve material quality issues and ensure timely material disposition.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe inspection area, adhering to all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of inspection procedures and work instructions.

Recommended Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in a technical field preferred.
  • 1-3 years experience in quality control or incoming inspection within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Demonstrated ability to use a variety of precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges).
  • Strong understanding of quality control principles and basic statistical process control (SPC).
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify defects or non-conformances.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC)
  • Familiarity with various measurement tools beyond basic calipers/micrometers (e.g., CMM, optical comparators)
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, including GD&T
  • Certification in relevant quality standards (e.g., ASQ CQT, CQI)
