Salary Range: $71,000 - $110,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Walker seeking Packaging Engineers who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test packaging solutions for new and existing products.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and marketing, to define packaging requirements and specifications.
• Optimize packaging designs for cost-effectiveness, sustainability, and manufacturing efficiency.
• Conduct packaging material selection, testing, and validation to ensure product integrity and compliance with industry standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve packaging-related issues during production and in the field.
• Develop and maintain packaging documentation, including specifications, test reports, and assembly instructions.
• Stay current with industry trends, new materials, and packaging technologies to drive innovation and continuous improvement.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in packaging engineering within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience with various packaging materials (e.g., plastics, paperboard, corrugated, flexible films) and their properties.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for package design and development.
• Strong understanding of packaging machinery, automation, and manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with packaging testing methods (e.g., ISTA, ASTM) and quality control standards.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software
• Knowledge of sustainable packaging materials and practices
• Familiarity with Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies
• Project management experience, from conception to launch
