Salary Range: $70,000 - $109,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Newaygo that are seeking skilled Packaging Engineers. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test packaging solutions for new and existing products.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, marketing, and supply chain, to define packaging requirements and ensure successful implementation.
• Evaluate and select appropriate packaging materials and technologies, considering cost, performance, sustainability, and regulatory compliance.
• Optimize packaging designs for manufacturability, efficiency, and damage prevention throughout the supply chain.
• Develop and maintain packaging specifications, test methods, and quality control procedures.
• Conduct root cause analysis for packaging-related issues and implement corrective actions.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, new materials, and technologies to drive innovation and continuous improvement in packaging.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience in packaging development within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for packaging design and analysis.
• Demonstrated experience with various packaging materials and processes (e.g., corrugated, plastics, flexible films, automation).
• Strong understanding of packaging regulations and industry standards (e.g., ISTA, ASTM).

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with sustainable packaging materials and practices.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software for packaging design.
• Familiarity with ISTA (International Safe Transit Association) testing protocols.
• Knowledge of automated packaging machinery and integration.
• Project management certification (e.g., PMP).
