Salary Range: $83,000 - $123,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are partnering with organizations in Muskegon that are seeking Materials Managers. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the planning, procurement, storage, and distribution of all materials.
  • Develop and implement inventory management strategies to optimize stock levels and minimize waste.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure favorable terms, pricing, and delivery schedules.
  • Lead and mentor a team of materials planners, buyers, and warehouse personnel.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and sales to forecast material needs and ensure timely availability.
  • Implement and maintain robust systems for tracking material flow and ensuring data accuracy.
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including shortages, quality issues, and logistical delays.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in materials management processes and systems.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in materials management or a similar role within a manufacturing environment
  • Proven track record of implementing and optimizing inventory control systems
  • Strong understanding of ERP/MRP systems and their application in materials planning
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team of materials professionals

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced materials (composites, ceramics, specialized alloys).
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
  • Proficiency in SAP S/4HANA or other advanced ERP systems.
  • Project management certification (PMP).
  • Fluency in a second language relevant to global supply chains.
