Salary Range: $83,000 - $123,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Battle Creek seeking Laser Weld Engineers who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize laser welding processes for new and existing products.
• Design and implement laser welding fixtures and tooling.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for laser weld defects.
• Collaborate with design engineers to ensure weldability of new product designs.
• Specify and procure new laser welding equipment and technologies.
• Provide technical support and training to manufacturing personnel on laser welding.
• Conduct process capability studies and implement statistical process control.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in laser welding processes and equipment in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, and welding symbols.
• Demonstrated experience with process development, optimization, and troubleshooting for laser welding applications.
• Strong understanding of material science and metallurgy, particularly concerning weldability of various alloys.
• Experience with metrology and quality inspection techniques for welded components.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with vision systems for weld inspection or guidance.
• Familiarity with Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing principles.
• Proficiency in a programming language (e.g., Python, C#) for data analysis or automation.
• Background in metallurgy, specifically related to laser-material interactions.
• Certification in a relevant area (e.g., Certified Welding Inspector, PMP).
