Inspection Technician | Otsego, MI

Salary Range: $41,000 - $64,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Perform visual and dimensional inspections of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products.
• Utilize precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and CMMs to verify product specifications.
• Document inspection results accurately in quality management systems and prepare detailed inspection reports.
• Identify and quarantine non-conforming materials or products, initiating corrective action procedures.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues and implement preventive measures.
• Maintain inspection equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficient in using precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, bore gauges).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints, specifications, and GD&T.
• Understanding of quality control principles and manufacturing processes.
• 1-3 years of experience in a quality inspection role within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in identifying defects and recording data.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) or other continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma Yellow Belt)
• Proficiency in programming Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) or other automated inspection equipment
• Familiarity with Quality Management System (QMS) software beyond basic data entry (e.g., SAP QM, MES)
• Strong understanding and application of advanced Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles
