Payroll Specialist | Holland, MI

Salary Range: $48,000 - $75,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Process accurate and timely bi-weekly or weekly payroll for all manufacturing employees, including complex calculations for overtime, shift differentials, and bonuses.
• Ensure strict compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, as well as company policies and potential union agreements.
• Maintain precise payroll records, employee data, and timekeeping system integrations for production staff.
• Reconcile payroll accounts, deductions, and tax filings to the general ledger and external agencies.
• Address and resolve employee payroll inquiries and discrepancies promptly and professionally.
• Prepare and submit all required payroll tax filings, year-end W-2s, and other compliance reports.
• Collaborate with HR and production management to ensure accurate timecard approvals and data integrity.

Recommended Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience processing end-to-end payroll for 200+ employees, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• In-depth knowledge of federal and multi-state payroll tax regulations, wage & hour laws, and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency with major payroll software (e.g., ADP, Workday, Paychex) and advanced Excel skills for data analysis.
• Familiarity with manufacturing-specific payroll elements such as shift differentials, overtime calculations for production, and incentive pay.
• Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and strong organizational skills to manage complex payroll data.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise strong ethical judgment.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with time and attendance systems common in manufacturing (e.g., Kronos, UKG Pro WFM).
• Familiarity with payroll processing for unionized workforces.
• Understanding of payroll implications for shift differentials, overtime rules, and production incentives typical in manufacturing.
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday) for HR/payroll functions.
