Salary Range: $83,000 - $123,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement welding procedures (WPS) and qualifications (PQR) to ensure consistent quality and compliance with industry standards.
  • Oversee welding operations, ensuring adherence to safety regulations, quality control measures, and production schedules.
  • Select appropriate welding processes, equipment, and consumables for various manufacturing applications.
  • Troubleshoot welding-related issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to minimize defects and rework.
  • Train and mentor welding personnel on best practices, new technologies, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with design and production teams to optimize weldments for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and structural integrity.
  • Conduct regular audits of welding processes and equipment to ensure optimal performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Research and evaluate new welding technologies and materials to enhance manufacturing capabilities and product quality.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Certified Welding Engineer (CWE) certification.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing welding procedures (WPS/PQR) in a manufacturing environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of various welding processes (e.g., GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, SAW, FCAW) and their applications.
  • Familiarity with welding metallurgy, heat treatment, and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
  • Strong understanding of relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., AWS, ASME, API).

Bonus Qualifications

  • - Experience with robotic welding systems and programming.
  • - Familiarity with advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
  • - Proven ability to implement lean manufacturing principles in a welding environment.
  • - Certification in project management (e.g., PMP).
  • - Experience with additive manufacturing (3D printing) of metal components.
