Weld Technician | Caledonia, MI

Salary Range: $45,000 - $70,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Perform welding operations according to blueprints, specifications, and quality standards.
• Set up and operate welding equipment, including arc welders, gas metal arc welders, and gas tungsten arc welders.
• Inspect and test welds for defects, such as porosity, cracks, and incomplete fusion.
• Maintain welding equipment and tools, ensuring they are in good working order.
• Prepare metal surfaces for welding by cleaning, grinding, and fitting.
• Follow safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
• Troubleshoot welding issues and make necessary adjustments to equipment or process.
• Document welding activities and results as required.

Recommended Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in welding preferred.
• Proven experience as a certified welder (e.g., AWS certification).
• Proficiency in various welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick) and materials.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols.
• Strong understanding of welding equipment operation, maintenance, and safety protocols.
• Experience with quality control and inspection procedures for welds.

Bonus Qualifications

• - Certified welding inspector (CWI) or similar accreditation
• - Experience with robotic welding systems
• - Familiarity with advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) methods
• - Proficiency in CAD software for weldment design review
• - Training in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles
