Payroll Specialist | Lansing, MI

Salary Range: $48,000 - $75,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Process multi-state payroll for both hourly and salaried employees.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations.
• Reconcile payroll data and prepare related reports for management.
• Administer timekeeping systems and address employee inquiries regarding pay.
• Manage year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and distribution.
• Collaborate with HR on benefits deductions and new hire onboarding processes impacting payroll.

Recommended Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience processing payroll for a manufacturing company.
• Proven knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including FLSA and multi-state tax laws.
• Experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex) and timekeeping systems.
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting principles related to payroll.
• Experience with union payroll and collective bargaining agreements.
